Credit Repair in Canada

  • Credit reporting agencies (CRAs) in the U.S. and Canada such as Equifax, TransUnion and Experian have a great deal of control over the consumer by what they report.

  • Improve your credit scores. Improving your credit scores saves you money on interest rates, finance charges and more.

  • Potential Employers, landlords, insurance companies look at your credit report to check out your credibility.

  • You have been declined credit from a mortgage company, bank, auto dealership, credit card company, or any other lending institution.

  • You don't want to pay thousands of dollars extra in interest fees because of bad credit.

  • You just want to make sure that your credit information is complete and accurate with the credit reporting agencies.

URGENT NOTICE: You need to check your credit report today, as there may be problems on your credit reports caused by creditors, collection agencies and credit bureaus. These problems are REAL and are not caused by you.

Equifax and TransUnion Report on 25 million Canadians (approx) who have credit.
Let's say, for example, that each credit report has 20 items listed on each credit report.
That's 500 million pieces of credit information that the credit reporting agencies MUST keep accurate, complete and verifiable BY LAW.
Credit Reports25,000,000
Listings on reports20
Total Listings500,000,000
Listings change monthly x 1260,000,000,000
(60 billion)
While most of the items listed on a person's credit report are correct, there are those that are not. And it is not the fault of the consumer.
Even if there were one problem out of 10 credit reports, that would be 2.5 million people with credit report problems. We feel that the problem is much worse than that. We've never seen a completely accurate credit report ever. Even if you have good credit!

We help our clients demand that Equifax, TransUnion and anyone listed on your credit reports comply with both Federal and Provincial legislation to keep each credit item reported on each credit report accurate, complete and verifiable.

Credit repair is an important part of a company / person's financial health.
Most people hit hard times financially at one point in their lives. Temporary financial troubles make it almost impossible to keep current with bills and thus affects your future credit rating.

The Source of Inaccurate Information
Every day thousands of credit applications and / or credit account amendments are made in Canada. If you've ever worked with data entry on computers, you know how easy it is to make a mistake entering in information. It's extremely hard to double check each and every piece of information for accuracy and completeness as it's being entered into the system. From time to time errors go unchecked and are reported to the credit reporting agencies.

Can credit bureaus Keep Up with the massive volume of information?

In our opinion, a difficulty that a large Canadian credit reporting agency may experience is that they collect new information on millions of people each month. All of those people have approximately 10 or more pieces of credit information. We feel that it may be difficult for credit reporting agencies to keep all of that personal information accurate or complete each and every month.

Hi, my name is Chris and I work at A member forwarded a question to which I hope you can answer. He asks:

"Is there any way to repair very poor credit?? My credit score is VERRRY low. I really want to buy a home but I feel really discouraged. I am getting conflicting information on whether or not to pay off old debts. My main objective is to buy a home and have good financial health. My timetable is to have a 580 score in 6 months. That is about a 100 point jump!! Are my goals unrealistic?? Am I just kidding myself??"

After reading your article I thought you might have an answer. Any pointers you could pass along are much appreciated. Thanks!

    The answer(s) are quite simple:
If you have a short time deadline, six months or less, to fix your very bad credit, it will not be easy to do so. If you have a little longer deadline, things will become progressively easier.

I find that most people don't really understand the credit process and thus aren't clear what needs to be done to ensure that their credit score remains high.

If you've got bad credit it's probably because you need to get a higher ratio of good items than bad on your credit report.

    First thing to do:
Get a copy of your credit report and see what's on there and note all of the bad items.

It's really important to know exactly how and why these bad items appeared on your credit report.

If there are any incomplete or inaccurate items listed on your credit report, you should immediately dispute them with the credit bureaus and creditors.

Removing disputed negative items will help improve your credit report.

    Second thing to do:
Put some good credit items on your credit report. You can quickly do that by getting some secured credit cards. These are credit cards that you give a security deposit for. They report to the credit bureaus like regular credit cards.

These are some quick points that give the basic outline of how a person can get pointed in the direction of improving their credit score.
