Welcome to CBV Collections Ltd. - NOT!! Welcome to CBV Collections Ltd.

This is the company whose rep, Michael Day or Mike Day, called up my 11 year old daughter and harrassed her and brought her to tears.

CBV is not collecting me, they're trying to fight with me and backlash against me because I'm disputing collection items on my clients credit reports.

CBV Collections are VERY unprofessional.

Read my page regarding how to deal with collection agencies.

Truth About collection Agencies in Canada

Thanks for your blog Monty. I just got off the phone with Ashley 1-888-311-1121 Ext. 2167 from CBV Collections BC office and I'm blown away.

I've been bogged down with outstanding bills and finally decided to call the collection agencies and set up ways to clear up my accounts and the first person I spoke to last month was Ashley.

She was very friendly and even helped me by informing me that there was an even better settlement offer available to me than the one that was mailed to me. I accepted this offer and I agreed to start paying online in Jan 05.

I received two messages from Ashley in December 04 and she called me today trying to collect the entire balance as if we had never spoke! She also claimed that the offer that she gave me in Dec 04 was "ridiculous" and that "things change".

I asked her to mail me an offer in black and white because I'm not going to commit to another over the phone. I am writing CBV to ask for another collector so she won't get credit for the collection.

I am also contacting the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority for BC @ 1 888 564-9963 for the name of the complaints manager for
CBV Collections Services Ltd to file a complaint.

A warning to those who get settlement offers -- ASK THEM TO MAIL IT TO YOU IN WRITING!!! ---

There's another feather in your cap CBV

We don't advise that you deal with collection agencies. You don't have a contract with a collection agency. They're not authorized to place any comments or items about you on your credit report with Equifax and TransUnion. If a collection agency puts an item on your credit report, you need to demand that it comes off!!

It's important to deal with the original creditor. After all, that's who you made the contract with. (Please check with your Consumer Protection to verify what I'm saying.

Just a follow up... CBV collections said they would send an apology letter to my daughter for their agent screaming at her. We HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THAT LETTER.

As far as I'm concerned, CBV is not a reputable company.

Please be very cautious when dealing with collection agencies.

    Have a great day!

Bob Richards, Executive VP of CBV collections and Gary Sandhu, Office Manager/Ombudsman are the contacts for CBV collections.

Make sure that you write letters to the companies that you're complaining about. Just calling them doesn't give you a great deal of proof when trying to prove your case to Consumer Protection

Be aware of the fraud credit repair company as the just do advertisement to make fool of others. If a credit repair company blames a set up fee, they cannot get that fee until and after the task of setting up your case has been finished. If a credit repair company is charging monthly fees, it also can not collected by them until the services have been provided.

Dear Anal-ymous. Maybe if you read what he said on how his daughter was treated and how the company treated him you would understand. If you are as dumb as your comment, which I am sure you are, you couldn't possibly figure out what he was trying to say!

I just want to know if their legit ? I went to both of the mobility companies I have ever dealt with and neither contact centers had any information about the " collection ".
They are trying to collect funds from me when I paid out a big contract cancellation. Another problem with that is that the time frame they are collecting for I was not even a client for a year since the contract buy out.
    Any ideas?

I received a call from CBV Collections on the 1st of May, 2012. They told me I have a balance owing of $4901.89 for a Dell laptop I purchased back in January 2006. I signed a 2 year payment contract with Dell and they deduced directly from my bank every first of the month. February of 2009 I noticed they still deducted off my bank account, and called Dell Financial Services, I was jumped from agent to agent, one saying I never made payments, one said I have no account with Dell, one said I paid in full and will be reimbursed the 2 months of 2009. I never received a letter/invoice/statement/phone call from Dell so I assumed everything was good. When I checked my credit report, it showed a balance of $5000.00 from Dell and couldn't purchase any large things. Shortly after, CBV Collections contacted me stating I owe $4901.89, I made $200.00 payments bi-weekly and the agreement was 'until account is cleared'. I keep my own budget and track every penny on my bank account, when CBV Collections called me last week, September 26, 2012, they told me I have a balance owing of $3173.85. I checked my bank statements and my budget sheet, I had paid $2401.89 by September 26, 2012 which means my balance should be $2500.00. When I confronted Christina, the CBV Collections Agent who called me, she said they don't charge interest and she doesn't see the $673.85 I am claiming to have paid, and that they don't charge interest. When I demanded to talk to the agent I talk to regularly, Darlene; they said she is not working that day. After the confrontation, I have not been contacted by CBV Collections. Just to make sure this is not a fraudulent company, I sent forms to TransUnion Canada; they can give you your credit report for free, and if it isn't fraud, the company names and payments you have made SHOULD show up from the report, if they are fraud, they won't appear. They will also help you get your money back and clear a dispute should there be any fraudulent activity.

DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE CRIMINALS! CBV Collections are known for purchasing old debt files from companies for pennies on the dollar and trying to collect on them. These old debt files are usually already written off by the companies the money was originally owed to. Thus any money you send them goes into their pockets, not to the companies the debts are with. If you think you owe a debt and you want to pay it off, deal directly with the company you owe the money to. If you are unsure then get a copy of your credit report. If CBV are trying to get money from you, the debt will most likely show up on your credit report as written off by the original company.

Collection agencies are NOT allowed to phone before 8a.m. or after 10p.m. in B.C.
They are not allowed to incur any additional debt to the person they are trying to collect from, over and above the amount owed. Which means, they can NOT call your cell phone number, as this creates additional costs to the person from whom they are trying to collect from.

I used to be an employee in cbv. It's true. They r fully corrupted. As I saw in 100 shepperd Ave. Northyork...the management is only paasing their time gossiping, and creating pressure on the agents to collect the old old acct wat sometimes shows in the credit report is written off. Favoritism is very common in hiring pple than the eligible applicant. His wife, her husband, his son, her daughter, his girlfrnd. Like dat. Polina the manager now in RBC portfolio is a bitch. Gives hard time to the collection agents and fire them wrongfully for personal interests. A lot of employees has complain about her. But the management close their eyes rather than solving the problems. Beside the bad service policy it's a very bad environment of work as well

I once received a phone call from CBV requesting that I had to pay $8K to Canadian Tire for a Canadian Tire credit card that I had. I told her that I didn't have a credit card from Canadian Tire and that I was not paying for anything. She started yelling at and cursing me that people get cards and fill them up and then don't want to pay them. I yelled back at her and told her to keep her voice down cause I wasn't yelling at her and I wasn't paying for something that was not mine. She kept going and I yelled back and told her, shut the f... up. Dont yell at me. I am going to get my credit reports and see what is written there so so call me again. She hanged up as soon as I told her that and has never called me back. I got my reports from both Bureaus and there was nothing there about me having anything with Canadian Tire. Bunch of scams, liars and rip offs.
